His Excellency Innocent Alaoma IWEJUO is a career diplomat and current Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Guinea, Conakry. Prior to his latest appointment by H.E. President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, Ambassador Iwejuo was the Deputy Head of Mission at the Nigerian Embassy, Ethiopia and Deputy Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa. He also served as the Deputy Consul General/Head Economic and Nigerians in Diaspora Affairs at the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America.

Since joining the Nigerian Foreign Service about two and half decades ago, Ambassador Iwejuo has made remarkable contributions to both community and national development, with tremendous experience working in various departments of the Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria and in various Nigerian diplomatic Missions abroad. He was Assistant Director in the Office of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, and Special Assistant to the Honourable Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission of Nigeria. He has also served in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Nigeria as Special Assistant to the Permanent Secretary (Political Affairs Office), as well as Special Assistant to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Abuja, Nigeria.

Ambassador Iwejuo has also served in various Nigerian diplomatic Missions abroad, notably Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Tokyo, Japan (2003-2007); Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Brussels, Belgium/Permanent Mission to the European Union (2010-2014); Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. (2017 – 2021) among others. He has vast experience in both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy and has widely participated in several international conferences, seminars, workshops, and related engagements around the world, representing Nigeria.

A Recipient of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Presidential Honours Award (2001), which earned him automatic employment to the Nigerian Foreign Service, Ambassador Iwejuo is also recipient of the Japanese Government’s Language Scholarship for young diplomats. He is graduate of the Consular Corps College, Washington, D.C., U.S.A., and the International School of Protocol and Diplomacy, Brussels, Belgium. He was also a member of the Presidential Committee for the reorganization of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme (2001). Ambassador Iwejuo gained a Master of Arts Degree in Governance and Development Policy; Bachelor of Science in Political Science, and graduate of the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy, Lagos.

Born in Egbelu, Isiala Uvuru in Aboh Mbaise L.G.A., Imo State, Ambassador Innocent Alaoma Iwejuo is happily married and blessed with four wonderful kids:
